[13:28]<jamer> Hi
[13:28]<Quantos> Heya jamer
[13:36]<@BC_Programming> nifty, fixed up my old graphics card
[13:37]<Quantos> Some superglue and electrical tape ;)
[13:37]<Quantos> Hehehehe
[13:37]<@BC_Programming> hah no
[13:38]<@BC_Programming> it was idling around 80 celsius
[13:38]<Quantos> Whoooo
[13:38]<@BC_Programming> took it apart and repasted it (again)... no change
[13:38]<Quantos> Need it's own loop for that one eh?
[13:38]<@BC_Programming> so I took it apart and took apart the fan majigger which is it's own assembly
[13:39]<@BC_Programming> lots of dust clogging up the air slits in there, cleaned that out and it idles at 35
[13:39]<@BC_Programming> which is the lowest I've ever seen it run
[13:39]<Quantos> LOL
[13:39]<@BC_Programming> won't go above 80 at all now even with furmark
[13:40]<Quantos> Which video card is that?
[13:40]<@BC_Programming> my old one, 9800GT
[13:40]<@BC_Programming> BFG no less, they went out of business
[13:40]<Quantos> Nice
[13:40]<Quantos> Smokes my GeForce 405 :D
[13:41]<@BC_Programming> My current is a 770GTX which idles at ~45 and won't go above 60 or so under load
[13:41]<Quantos> Wow
[13:41]<@BC_Programming> though I don't play super intense games
[13:41]<Quantos> I can't wait to see how my new 750Ti SC will run
[13:41]<Quantos> Pretty excited
[13:42]<@BC_Programming> heh so somehow my Dimension 4400 is fried, Stepdad is all annoyed about not having a computer
[13:42]<@BC_Programming> told him to buy his own damned machine
[13:42]<Quantos> Heheheheh
[13:43]<@BC_Programming> hmm so now my old PC is working in a way that doesn't make it afraid it will burst into flames
[13:44]<@BC_Programming> what to do with it :P
[13:45]<Quantos> Don't give it to your step-dad :)
[13:45]<@BC_Programming> yeah no
[13:46]<@BC_Programming> I actually like it, I didn't really like the dimension 4400
[13:49]<@BC_Programming> huh... I can't even find any 4GB DDR2 sticks anymore
[13:51]<Quantos> Ebay buddy
[13:56]<@BC_Programming> "From China" "From Hong Kong" yeah uh no
[13:57]<@BC_Programming> heh the rest seem to be 2x2GB 4GB sets
[13:58]<Quantos> Bummer
[13:58]<@BC_Programming> probably not worth it to max out my old PC with 16GB anyway
[13:58]<@BC_Programming> I'm already sitting on 32 in this one
[13:58]<Quantos> No, what OS, XP?
[13:58]<Quantos> 7?
[13:59]<Quantos> Even 8 doesn't use that much without some effort
[13:59]<@BC_Programming> what?
[13:59]<@BC_Programming> 8.1
[13:59]<Quantos> Oh, on the 4400?
[13:59]<Quantos> Oh really eh?
[13:59]<@BC_Programming> the 4400 has 1GB
[13:59]<@BC_Programming> my "old PC" is my old build
[13:59]<Quantos> I thought it might not run on that
[13:59]<Quantos> Oh, gotcha
[14:00]<@BC_Programming> it was running Mint 17 I think
[14:00] * Quantos was confused, like that never happens :)
[14:00]<@BC_Programming> the Dimension doesn't work anyway, pretty sure the motherboard is fried so it would be silly to try to upgrade the ram
[14:00]<@BC_Programming> probably expensive too, since it's DDR
[14:01]<@BC_Programming> This PC(my main system) has 32GB, my old build has 8GB right now but it can have a max of 16GB thus my musing about DDR2 you see
[14:01]<Quantos> 32 !!
[14:02]<Quantos> The one I just ordered has 16, I thought that was excessive :)
[14:02]<Quantos> I don't run enough vm's to use anywhere near that
[14:02]<@BC_Programming> when I built it it had 16GB, but I got another 16GB for no reason
[14:02]<Quantos> That's plenty good reason
[14:03]<@BC_Programming> my thought is that if I don't grab it now and figure on upping it later It will end up more expensive because by that time all memory will be DDR4 or something
[14:03]<Quantos> Yeah, no kidding eh?
[14:03]<Quantos> That's actually why I went 16GB
[14:04]<Quantos> I just noticed I can get the GTX 960 for $90 more than the 750Ti
[14:04]<@BC_Programming> heh imagine if modern PCs did the memory count like the original IBM PC where it took about a minute to count 1024K
[14:04]<Quantos> I'm considering seeing if I can change my order
[14:04]<Quantos> Gads, I'd kill myself
[14:05]<@BC_Programming> removing the fans from it?
[14:05]<Quantos> That's a possibility
[14:05]<Quantos> That would be the price right there
[14:05]<@BC_Programming> if you do get a lot of fans don't make them all point outward or your PC will start singing
[14:06]<Quantos> I want to see if it gets lift
[14:06]<@BC_Programming> "Do you know, what it's like to be built this way? With only the power, to push others away"
[14:06]<Quantos> LOL, Jessica Rabbit isn't it?
[14:06]<@BC_Programming> ?
[14:06]<Quantos> I thought you were quoting Jessica Rabbit
[14:07]<Quantos> Sounds like something she'd say
[14:08]<@BC_Programming> I was quoting A Megas Song
[14:08]<Quantos> Ah, I don't think I've heard of them
[14:08]<@BC_Programming> It is a lyric from their song to the tune of Airman's stage from Megaman 2
[14:08]<@BC_Programming> https://www.youtube.com/watch?x-yt-cl=84503534&feature=player_detailpage&v=G98baqaSmBY&x-yt-ts=1421914688#t=22
[14:15]<Quantos> I still can't believe that I went from getting a much lesser computer(really all I need) to that behemoth that I ordered
[14:15]<@BC_Programming> haha oh wow
[14:15]<@BC_Programming> this escalated quickly
[14:15]<@BC_Programming> http://www.computerhope.com/forum/index.php/topic,148697.0.html
[14:15]<Quantos> I'm sure I could squeak by on an i3 with onboard graphics
[14:17]<Quantos> Holy shit
[14:17]<Quantos> That's hilarious
[14:17]<@BC_Programming> They seem rather confused about the whole "forum" thing
[14:17]<Quantos> LOL, yeah
[14:17]<@BC_Programming> I think they might be a troll or something
[14:17]<Quantos> I wouldn't be surprised
[14:18]<@BC_Programming> "You can delete your profile yourself. No need to make yourself look like an idiot beforehand." if I may say so, masterpiece
[14:18]<Quantos> Yeah, it brought a smile to my face too
[14:19]<@BC_Programming> had to come up wit ha response that was defensible as within forum rules
[14:19]<@BC_Programming> I didn't say they were an idiot after all :P
[14:19]<@BC_Programming> I just thought it very loudly
[14:20]<Quantos> heheheh
[14:20]<Quantos> Some people are really just too stupid for computers
[14:20]<Quantos> They just need help realizing it :)
[14:21]<@BC_Programming> Well that guy has just been asking stupid questions and providing no context or information for a while
[14:21]<@BC_Programming> guess he thought we were a psychic support forum
[14:22]<Quantos> I provide psycho support services
[14:22]<Quantos> Oh, psychic, gotcha
[14:26]<Quantos> The 960 should fit pretty easily in a full tower eh?
[14:27]<@BC_Programming> I'd hope so
[14:28]<Quantos> I don't know, I'll never use the thing to potential
[14:28]<Quantos> It would be nice though
